"Best I Ever Had"

Lol so I saw the Drake video "Best I Ever Had" directed by Kanye West on MTV2 and really..all I can say is "breast I ever had, chest I ever had" lol. Kinda corny...definitely can tell 'Ye hand picked all the women for that joint. He's gettin kinda notorious for that don't you think. If you follow him like I have you remember the whole process with the original "Flashing Lights" vid. But back to Drake, I like dude..he's definitely got go lol kind of a breath of fresh air but I dislike his decision with him signing with Young Money. I'm sure he did it for a good reason. His single "Best I Ever Had" is pretty hot. I bump it myself when ever drivin somewhere, I heard two different remixes to it. One with Busta Ryhmes that I didn't really dig too much, (no disrespect ta Bust cuz I mean..he's Bust..enough said). Then I heard one with Drake's label mate Nikki Minaj that was kinda hot. Her voice is kinda annoyin when she spits cuz she has that really thick ass NY accent but sure enough her bars go harder then most dudes out right now. But over all tha joint is hot. He's gettin hella airtime, bookin really good gigs, gettin really good features..and the most respectable thing I respect about his hustle.., he did all that without havin an album out. Congrats by the way for makin it on to Hov's "The Blueprint 3" set to come out September 11th. 2009. That's a monumental achievement for an artist with no discography record lol. But yeah man..

holla back,

FIND MY WAY

So lol...since I know everybody is excited about my album "Return of
the Converse Kid" which comes out fall of 2009
(which I'm sure you've all read several times by now), I've decided that I'd do a series of blogs specifically addressing each and every song on my
up coming album.
And yes even joints that don't make the cut.
If I record the song for my album and it doesn't meet my album standards and doesn't get released on it, you'll still be able to read,
watch and hear why the song didn't make the cut.
So with that being said, our first order of business is my first single entitled "Find My Way".
This song has a lot of background to it.
The song is dedicated to, written about and inspired by a close friend and fellow artist (and she's an artist literally) Esra Odeh.
Also the song is a tribute to A Tribe Called Quest.
Most Hip-Hop heads will catch that right off the bat.
This song doesn't have a feature on it though we recorded a rough draft to get a feel for the song.
Also to help surprise Esra who's never heard the actual song along with the rest of you.
Reason why I wanted to surprise her was she's hella stubborn lol, and she knows I have a song for her so she constantly asks about it.
So we recorded a fake version of her song to kinda throw her off a lil' but and confuse her until we were ready to let her hear the actual song lol.
That rough version of the song is available on zShare and you can download it by clicking the following title of the song -- "Find My Way".
The finished version of the song is about the comparison between music and painting.
How they're both one in the same.
Both are forms of expression and emotion, they both require creative thinking, they both require patience and acquired tastes,
and they both are created simply with one idea which eventually grows into something much bigger.
Esra paints pictures with her paint brush and and canvas, while I do the same with my mind.
With her being the subject of my rhymes, it was very easy writing this song.
I didn't want to go over to many heads by being extremely metaphoric and at the same time refused to dumb down my thoughts for my audience
(shout out to Lupe).
So there are plenty of clever lines inside the song.
The challenging part which my manager thinks will be very difficult, is pushing this joint as a single.
It's not quite "pop" enough to receive radio play.
But Roky (Rovion "Rovi Rokmore" Reed, producer of 98.9% of my tracks) and I think Hip-Hop heads will appreciate it a lot and respect me for it.
Especially with me being at the young age I'm at I should receive some type of recognition from a more mature audience which is fine with me lol.
Also we have the video planned out and we feel that whatever you don't grasp by listening to the track, you'll be sure to pick up with the visuals of the video.
We hope to have Esra and possibly one of her paintings cameo in the video and we're talking to local director Matt Harsh of Harshpro about shooting the vid.
Keep an eye out for the song and the video soon, footage from the studio session will be uploaded soon!!

Preview Of Third Single

So this joint right here was actually originally recorded right before Christmas of '08. We laid down a rough draft of this song but never really completed it. We dug it up out of my track record and decided to record it with adjustments to it

because in my personal opinion the song is very worthy of mainstream attention. I have plenty of other songs to back it up. As of now we're thinking of only having 10 songs on the album. Of course we'll have bonus joints, and then there will be 3 specific singles that we already have picked out. "The Return of the Converse Kid" will be the perfect record to purchase when it releases fall of '09....guaranteed. Check it out.

We're Finally Working On The Album!!!

-Rovi Rokmore (Rovion Reed), is officially working on the production of Jay Moses's second single (which has yet to be titled) following the first entitled "Find My Way". Both from the upcoming album "Return of the Converse Kid" which is in full works now. We began recording for it recently and hope to be done completely (recording, mixing, mastering) by some time in August of this year. We've already began planning shooting a vid for "Find My Way". The second single actually hasn't even been titled yet but I have a really good feeling about the concept I'm using. It being a follow up single, it has to be as good or better the the first. The first is more down to Earth with everyone who's in tune with Hip-Hop....not to be confused with Rap music. But it's actually a dedication to a close friend of mines who I'll leave nameless for the time being just in case she doesn't want her name out there just yet. But it's about her and her craft, and what she loves doing which just so happens to be creating art. Also the song is a tribute to A Tribe Called Quest. So there's a lot going on behind the scenes of that song which haven't been filmed yet or discussed, so I figured I might as well film the beginning stages of making the second single so I wouldn't have to back track like I had to for "Find My Way". So stay tuned, watch, and enjoy.
